Kurt the Bear joined the regiment on Mission 4 4 Salzburg. He wears his lederhosen with pride. He is Austrian by birth and was named after Kurt from the Sound of Music. He was disappointed not to be joining the regiment for Mission 5 5 Genoa, and has since developed a superstition against attending odd-numbered missions. He has also succeeded in making an enemy of the Little Lucky Leprechaun.

Kurt's veto

This was added to the draw in 5 Genoa. Once all destinations have been revealed, each member of the Colonel's Regiment present on that particular break receives a piece of paper and writes down a destination they wish to veto, or "No veto".

The results are then revealed, and should any destination receive three or more votes, it loses its place in the draw. NB: When revealing a "No veto" vote, it is not necessary to sing the phrase to the tune of "So Macho" by Sinitta.

Interaction with Gløgg

If Gløgg bums Kurt, a destination can only be vetoed if the veto vote is unanimous.

If Kurt is helped, only two votes are required for the veto to take effect.

On mission 10 in 10 Zürich, Gløgg helped Kurt and, with David and Mike both using their vote, Granada became the first destination to be successfully vetoed. Since Cork was vetoed on mission 11 with 4 votes, Dave was vetoed for two missions in a row. Dave was AWOL for the next two missions.
